Introducing the Milken Archive Data Dashboard

What does Jewish music look like? It’s not the most obvious question. But for the past two years, we have been collaborating on a research project on recorded Jewish music with our partners at the Lowell Milken Center for Music of American Jewish Experience at UCLA. To kick the project off, we analyzed the Milken Archive’s repertoire by genre, style, instrumentation, and host of other criteria, then plugged the analysis into the powerful data visualization program, Tableau. The results not only offer a new way to "see" Jewish music, they provide a useful and fascinating way to discover, compare, and learn.
