Born in Breslau, Germany to a historically Jewish family that had converted to Christianity prior to his birth, Jan Meyerowitz composed several secular works on Jewish themes, as well as a complete Friday evening service commissioned by Cantor David Putterman at New York’s Park Avenue Synagogue.
